Wishes come true...

About two weeks ago I wished for just three more pow days. Last week I got a half pow day with Brighton getting 10" of freshy. Between today and tomorrow Brighton is supposed to get almost two feet. I have Friday and Saturday off, I have a feeling it's gonna be good... super stoked for an April 2nd pow day.

Mending

A wise man once said "The worst part about getting hurt is the injury that follows." Yup, that just happened. Anyhow, I ran for ten minutes last night and right at the ten minute mark I knew it was time to stop. So I jumped on the spin bike for thirty minutes, felt good. The hip flexor feels good today which is extra special for me.

Last Big Storm... Probably

Brighton got 10", I got a great day of riding with some of the fam. I also did another brick workout last week, swim bike. I need to hammer down on my nutrition better. The end... for now.

H-Flexy

The hip flexor is jacked again. I'm not happy, but I guess this gives me a reason to start utilizing the spin bikes at Gold's and doing some more lifting. Just no more running for a couple weeks. LAME!

Spring IS here

Spent today enjoying the amazing weather, in the 40's, up at Brighton with my amazing wife, who killed it up there. Then I fertilized my lawn, that's right, I fertilized MY lawn... weird. A little swim and an intense Jazz game later, I am BEAT!

Powder and Haters

I always thought that in the world of blogging there were unwritten rules, one of them being: #38 You must have at least 764 followers in order to gain a Level 3 (or above) hater. Good news folks, you only need to have four followers to gain a hater. Me just being myself is really pissing someone off. I feel strangely validated because of it. This must be what Jay-Z is talking about when he says that he loves all his haters. Thank you haters.

On to the good/positive/awesome stuff!

Brighton, who's park has been a let down this year, has decided to finally put up the My-Oh-My kickers. They are FUN! Lapped those for a while, then got a little bored and decided to see what Snake was like. Did my usual line, then decided I had to hike. Went up on the ridge and got some fresh lines and a sweet wind lip. This was probably my last pow run of the year. Thanks to the Snow Gods for providing it, it was cherished!

Delams...

I'm really getting sick of repairing delams on my snowboard. Maybe it's time for a new one, however, Greece in October is gonna put a kink in that. Besides, I need new bindings first... Mo money, mo problems. Oh and I'm taking a couple more days off of running, hip flexor is feeling good, not 100% though.

Blessing In Disguise

During my swim today my nose plug broke in half. At first I was ready to call it a workout, as I had been swimming for 45 minutes, but I decided to keep going sans plug... and it was GREAT! I felt better swimming than I have in a long time. I don't know if it was a mental thing or what, but I loved it.

10k

Did my first 10k yesterday. Tweaked my hip flexor, so I'm gonna have to take a few days off of running and replace it with swimming and R.I.C.E.ing. I've never iced my hip flexor before, could be interesting...

Brick One

First brick of the year. Did a 5.5 mile run followed by a short swim. Yeah, I hurt.

Snake Day

Did a little hiking today at the top of Snake. Got some good pow lines and a nice wind lip with a way soft landing... good times.

RideSwimRideRun

What a week!

I Spent Monday slaying the park... alright, maybe not slaying it, but at least lappin' all day. Found out I still need practice on rails and half-pipe, I wrecked pretty hard in the pipe and my knees were definitely feeling it. I also did a forty five minute swim at Gold's Gym on Monday, 1250 meters. It felt really good to get back in the water. I still really enjoy using the Total Immersion method of swimming, it just feels easier to me.

On Tuesday I decided I couldn't pass up going on a run on a 45 degree night, in Utah, in March. So, I started running, no music, and I just kept running. I ended up doing four miles. I know that's not a huge distance, but for me it is. Especially when I hadn't been running in about six months. I felt GREAT the whole run and I probably could have kept going, but it was getting late. I really think all the lifting I did during the winter helped a lot with my running.

Wednesday I decided to do something I had never done before, a full hour of swimming! I made sure to go a little slower at first to ensure my finish, but I still held a good pace using 12-16 strokes per 25m lap. I'm pretty sure I did just under 2500 meters.

On Thursday the weather started turning colder and it started to snow. You would think that would stop me from going on my run... NOPE! I did 4.5 miles, I was slow and felt pretty crappy BUT I did it.

I took Friday off.

On Saturday I got me some pow on Milly, some good air off a few cat tracks and then I decided to throw myself off a cliff. Normally this cliff isn't really much of a cliff, only about 15-20 feet, normally. However, on that day, there was an extra couple feet of snow on top and a lip off the top AND I got way too much speed on it. So I ended up launching about 30 feet high and 20 feet far... past my landing, to flat. Landing from 30 feet high to flat is not good for your bindings. My base plate shattered and the actual base of the binding cracked in half. I was okay, but dang, I love those bindings. I think I can repair them or at least make some franken-bindings out of them. Thanks Drell for hookin me up with a temporary replacement binding. Man, I was in the freakin air for 3-5 seconds, it was FUN! Then I got home and went for a 30 minute swim, mostly kick drills.

This weekend was also our cheat weekend, as far as nutrition goes. My wife and I will only eat junk once a month. So we ate Chef Tom's [in Taylorsville] for dinner on Saturday, it was pretty good. The best part was the Mini Cadburry Eggs, which I ate pretty much the whole bag, and Alice in Wonderland. Great show.

Wow, this is long! Anyhow, for training, I'm gonna go for five to six miles this week on the run and probably keep the swim at about an hour. For riding, I expect to have a good day on Monday, hopefully a few new inches of fresh, if not, I guess it'll be another park day.

Good times!

New Blog Name

I'm sure you (you being all zero people who currently read this) have noticed that I have changed my blogs' name. I have decided that it needs to more reflect my lifestyle than my goals. I will continue to put the goals in, because they are part of my lifestyle, but I will also start talking about more than just triathlon. I hope some more people decided to read this, because of how terribly interesting I am, but if not I guess it's just their loss right?
